This is the rebuild kit for the manual steering coupler.
|
Totally Auto put the manual steering gear together
for me and did a great job on the restoration of it.
It took them three cores to rebuild this one.

This is the adapter
piece that was needed to bridge the gap that was left from switching boxes. I'm not sure who actually manufactured
this piece, but I think it's available through Steer & Gear in Columbus, Ohio.
|
The overall length
is 3.730". The male end of this adapter has 35 splines and an indexer that mates
to the steering coupler.

Pitman
arm, P/S to manual adapter, manual steering coupler and steering coupler rebuild kit. The manual gear has 4 indexers and 8 splines between them on the Pitman arm shaft. The Pitman arm
and coupler are used, but refurbished by Totally Auto.

The idler arm and pitman arm I have for the manual steering gear
swap doesn't look right. You'll see what I mean in this photo.
I went to Advance Auto Parts and picked up a manual pitman arm.

I
picked up the new pitman arm and it looks to be the right one! It was the Moog #18759 piece and cost about $53.00. I
ended up removing the idler arm to repaint it the same color as the pitman arm. I used Plast-Kote Hi-Temp Cast Iron
Gray #HP-17 after stripping the old paint off and using some Bondo rust remover gel.
