This is the original 340 to my '73.  Button Automotive Machine Shop Service, Inc. in O'Fallon, Missouri did the machine work and assembled most of the shortblock to ensure that 4-bolt mains and stroker crank fit and rotated correctly.

The block was bored .030" over with torque plates and
square decked by .010".  The Milodon 4-bolt main caps were line bored and line honed after the machine work was complete for their installation.  Notches were made in the block for rod swing clearance due to the Mopar Performance 4.0" stroker crank and the Eagle H-beam rods.  400 grit stones were used in the cylinders for file fitted moly rings.  New cam bearings, freeze plugs, distributor bushing and oil galley plugs were installed and the whole rotating assembly was balanced.

Ross 8:1 blower pistons, Edelbrock aluminum heads, Crane 1.5 roller rockers and a mild Crane Powermax cam will be part of this combination, as well as a Stage 1, Small Diameter
BDS 6-71 blower and two BDS prepped Holley 600's.

The plan for my little 340... 5.6% overdriven (Crank Pulley = 36 Teeth / Top Pulley = 34 Teeth), 5.5-6.0#'s of boost and a final compression ratio of 11.1:1.

Here are a couple of shots at Button's shop and some of the parts gathered...

The cam bearings are going in.

Milodon # 11300 4-bolt main caps.

Machine work is complete for the 4-bolt caps and notches made for the rod swing for the stroker crank.

It's a tight fit, but it's all in there, minus the windage tray and the oil pump.  I'll install those at home.

The 4.0" stroke is evident in this photo.  A 400 grit final hone was used.

I used a Jeg's pushrod length checker and ordered a set of custom length pushrods from  5/16 x .083 4130 HT No/Oil, C5732A - 5/32 R Cup, B5732SA - 5/32 R Cup, 7.050" Length Pushrods.

Mancini #MRC-262 Roller Timing Chain.

Mancini Billet Rocker Shaft Hold-downs.

Melling High Volume Oil Pump P/N M-72HV.

Me and a buddy were tasked with indexing the BDS crank hub.  We found true TDC and scribed a mark on the crank hub and added the timing tape supplied by BDS.

Milodon Windage Tray P/N 32230.

Milodon 7 Qt. pan and pickup.

Edelbrock #6017 aluminum heads.

Mopar Performance aluminum valve covers.

BDS 6-71 blower and Holley 600's. Good Vibrations Motorsports provided the blower setup and the Holley's were calibrated and blueprinted by BDS.
